Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları; doğumdan ergenlik döneminin sonuna kadar olan süreçte çocukların fiziksel, zihinsel ve duygusal gelişimini izleyen, hastalıkların tanı ve takibini gerçekleştiren tıbbi bir branştır. Pediatri, yalnızca mevcut hastalıkların değerlendirilmesini değil, aynı zamanda sağlıklı büyüme ve gelişmenin sürekliliğini de hedefler.
Çocukluk döneminde görülen hastalıklar, erişkin yaş grubundan farklı klinik özellikler gösterebilir. Bu nedenle çocukların değerlendirilmesi, yaşa özgü fizyolojik özellikler ve gelişim basamakları dikkate alınarak planlanmalıdır. Pediatri yaklaşımı, çocuğun genel sağlık durumunu bütüncül bir bakış açısıyla ele alır.
Çocuk sağlığı ve hastalıkları birimi; akut ve kronik hastalıkların değerlendirilmesi ile birlikte koruyucu sağlık hizmetlerini de kapsar. Bu kapsamda;
Yenidoğan ve bebeklik dönemi izlem ve değerlendirmeleri
Büyüme ve gelişme takibi
Enfeksiyon hastalıkları
Solunum, sindirim ve idrar yolu hastalıkları
Alerjik hastalıklar
Ateşli hastalıkların değerlendirilmesi
Genel çocuk sağlığı kontrolleri gibi birçok klinik durum pediatrik değerlendirme alanına girer.
Pediatri pratiğinde tanı ve izlem süreci, çocuğun yaşı, gelişim düzeyi ve klinik bulguları birlikte değerlendirilerek planlanır. Gerektiğinde laboratuvar tetkikleri ve görüntüleme yöntemlerinden yararlanılır. Amaç; doğru tanıya ulaşmak, hastalık sürecini izlemek ve çocuğun sağlıklı gelişimini desteklemektir.
Çocuk sağlığı ve hastalıkları pratiğinde ailelerin sürece aktif katılımı büyük önem taşır. Değerlendirme ve izlem sürecinde ebeveynlerin bilgilendirilmesi, çocukların sağlık takibinin sürekliliği açısından önemli bir yer tutar.
