Pediatric Health and Diseases Specialist Dr. Havva Evrengül informed parents about the infectious diseases increasing during the school period.
Which diseases do we encounter most?
Upper respiratory tract infections (flu, cold), rash-related diseases (roseola, hand-foot-and-mouth), lice, and intestinal parasites are becoming quite common during this period.
How can we be protected?
Hygiene education is the basis of this. Give your child the habit of frequent hand washing. Also, you should teach them to avoid using common water bottles, towels, or forks.
How does nutrition affect immunity?
For strong immunity, a diet rich in protein, Vitamin C, and zinc is essential. We should stay away from packaged foods and turn to seasonal vegetables and fruits. Of course, adequate and quality sleep will also increase the child's resistance.
