General Surgery Specialist Dr. Emran Kuzey Avcı made recommendations for patients who have had laparoscopic (closed) gallbladder surgery.

Can Food be Eaten Immediately?

A few hours after surgery, we start feeding with liquid foods. However, for the first few weeks, especially fatty, spicy, fried foods and heavy sauces should be avoided. Since there is no gallbladder, the body may initially have difficulty digesting fats.

When to return to normal life?

Thanks to the advantage of closed surgery, patients are discharged within 24 hours. They can start office work after 3-4 days. However, we recommend waiting for 1 month for heavy sports and lifting loads.

When are the stitches removed?

Since we usually use aesthetic stitches and special tapes, there is no need for stitch removal. The wounds heal by themselves. Small bruises and slight swelling are normal and pass in time.
